Linda McRae: MUSIC/LYRICS/VIDEO

How Can I Bring Her Back

(Linda McRae/Pat Pattison)

I wrote this one with Pat Pattison, professor at the Berklee School of Music in Boston

HOW CAN I BRING HER BACK?

Little girl golden curls just the age of 4

Stepped on a crack broke the back

of a kitten on the floor

I cried as she died cradled in my hand

Momma, momma help me if you can

As I grew no one knew it faded in my mind

Just a maid with a babe of my own

In her tiny hand was all the love I had

But I didn’t understand now she’s gone

How can I bring her back

How can I bring her back

How can I bring her bring her bring her back

Mother dear come near tell me not to fear

Let me know tell me love can last

I still pray every day I will find the way

Momma Momma help me if you can

How can I bring her back

How can I bring her back

How can I bring her bring her bring her back
